Well, hello there πŸ•Ί

I'm Gabi the founder of Mindjoy πŸ€“I spend A LOT of time learning and thinking about:
- 🧠 Learning (kids, adults & machines)
- πŸ’‘ Curiosity
- πŸ’ͺ Motivation
- πŸ€ Resilience
- πŸ› Systems Thinking
- πŸš€ Startup Culture and Building Product

I'm consumed by figuring out how we might engineer the art of teaching where the outcomes of the systems we build result in resilient, creative, curious, and motivated learners. And that all young people have access to opportunities regardless of where they were born.I am deeply curious about how we construct stories about ourselves in an ever-changing tech world. Our education (formal or informal) shapes how we create our stories of ourselves. I believe that our confience in our abilty to wield the tools of our time (pen, paintbrush, calculator, computer, code, and AI) shapes our confidence and motivation and ultimately our ability to participate in economies where humanity flourishes.

Me and my childhood besti at our business on the beach 🏝

I have always loved making things and hustling ever since I was a kid. Every summer, I would start a project by selling somethingβ€”from car washes to running a butterfly zoos in our cul-de-sac to stick-on tattoo parlours on the beach. I would always rope other kids into working on my projects with me.Since then, I have worked with thousands of kids from all walks of life, from suburban Palo Alto to the townships of Cape Town.I taught in Palo Alto Unified School District, started a small afterschool business Pukka and then, ran a Project-based Learning school in the heart of Cape Town Maara House before starting Mindjoy

More than anything - I wish to create contexts that spark curiosity and grow a love of hard fun -which ultimately lead to discoveries of the self and self-empowerment.I believe that human potential is infinite but so often we underestimate our capacity for growth. Our ability to move beyond what we believe possible is far greater than what we perceive.

I've had the priveledge of working with talented, brilliant and creative young people from all walks of life.

My doge Altonious Maximus the great springer spaniel 🐢

I love working on Mindjoy, spending time outdoors and doing physical activities with friends, watching good films, eating steak πŸ₯© and drinking good coffee β˜•οΈ and wine 🍷.
I'm slightly obsessed with my absurdly adorable springer spaniel (Alto).
I write a πŸ—ž blog/newsletter thing to share what I’m learning.
